The MD-80 Tail Support, P/N CFT 3916746-505, is designed specifically as a center of gravity safety support for the rear of the aircraft during ground operations.  Each tail support is manufactured with the focus on quality to assure the structural integrity.

The pogo is flux welded using either A500 or A36 carbon structural steel components.  All pins and related hardware are precision CNC machined using either 4130 carbon steel or 17-4 stainless steel or 6061-T6 aluminum.  All pogos are painted using epoxy based paint per customer requirements.  Yellow is the standard color; however customized colors are available at no extra charge.

Each support is load tested to 1.5 times operating load utilizing NIST certified gauges to assure each support meets quality standards prior to shipment.  Additionally, dye penetrant or mag particle inspections are performed prior to and following load testing.
